MatrixOne Signs OEM Agreement with Cadence

Exclusive Relationship Will Create Collaborative PLM Solutions for Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

WESTFORD, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Oct. 22, 2003— MatrixOne, Inc. (NASDAQ: MONE) today announced that they have established with Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN) an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreement between the companies. Under the exclusive agreement, Cadence will embed MatrixOne technology into advanced Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions that will be marketed and supported directly by Cadence. These new offerings will enable engineering teams to collaborate on the development of printed circuit board (PCB) designs. These new products will provide PCB design customers with new capabilities to help shorten design cycles, reduce design spins and lower overall design costs.

"The design of electronic products is a highly complex engineering discipline requiring very effective collaboration and communication across geographically dispersed teams," said Charlie Giorgetti, corporate vice president and general manager of the silicon-package-board business unit at Cadence. "MatrixOne solutions offer the architecture and flexibility we need to meet our customers' rigorous requirements."

The agreement is effective immediately. It is a significant milestone in the strategic joint initiative that MatrixOne and Cadence announced earlier this year. MatrixOne is also an ongoing member of the Cadence Connections(R) Program for open interoperability.

"The structure of global electronics design and value chains are becoming increasingly complex and fragmented," said Mark F. O'Connell, president and CEO, MatrixOne. "Our relationship with Cadence provides collaborative product design solutions that customers can integrate seamlessly into their existing design environment. This enables them to balance their product development investments between their internal resources and their outsourced and offshore design and manufacturing partners."
